STRAWBERRY

She told me her name was Strawberry
That's what her daddy said
With her Emerald, Golden eyes
And her hair of flaming Red
The Boys would all run after her
But she'd leave them behind
I still hear her laughter
In the echoes of my Mind

The Desert is a lonely place
It's hard to stay alive
It's a Fire in your face
Only the strong survive
Softer than a Willow
Harder than a Stone
Left home with her family
And stayed out here alone

Fire on the water
Frozen to the Bone
 I couldn't see the smoke signals
One morning she was gone
I really pray she found her way
Across the Desert yesterday
Another stranded Castaway
In the Land of Faraway

There's a Flower on the way
Growing from a Rock
It marks the place I last saw her
I think I'm still in shock
I didn't see the message
She had written on the wall
It's almost like she never
Was really there at all

She walked into Forever
When the Summer turned to Fall
Another little Strawberry
Who could have had it all
I had to leave the Desert
The Mountains called my name
But her Voice is still echoing
Across the Desert Plain

I know the name they gave you
On the day that you were born
I don't plan to speak it now
Till Gabriel blows his horn
That's when I'll see you again
Over there and back again
Yes I will, but can't say when
My Strawberry friend
