THE WIZARD

The Wizard came in from the Village Within
When he opened up his lavender eyes
He had seen something about to begin
From inside the eye in the sky
He didn't want people to know it was him
So, he wrapped himself in a disguise
A storm from offshore was just now closing in
He could tell by the swell of the tide

He went to the rocks where his father had died
His voice welling up from inside
Old Man, can you hear me, I need you here near me
Can you come back from the other side?
The big waves came crashing right through the seawall
And tore through the township like a wrecking ball
A lot of men drowned when the Good ship went down
At last bell the Wizard was not to be found

Where is The Wizard when we need him tonight?
Pray for the best but prepare for a fight
It looks like we're in for a hell of a night
Keep your head down and don't turn out the light
A nor'easter blizzard still hammers the coast
Did our brothers and sisters just give up the ghost?

The wizard took leave of us, a true, Noble friend
Thank God he believed in us to the bitter end
When all the voices have all gone away
We’ll still have the choices we made here today
We send out a blessing to all that we lost
To the Woman in Black up on the Widow’s Walk
We pray that our loved ones will come back to town
And The Wizard went back to his world Underground
